Casa Freijó uses three shades of solid brick, laid in different ways to create a surface marked by subtle variations in color and texture. Concrete and a steel structure complete the composition, defining large openings that connect the spaces.

At the center of the house, an internal courtyard organizes the plan. The opening allows natural light and ventilation to reach different areas, while vegetation creates a layer of privacy between the spaces. The house turns inward, with the courtyard becoming a natural extension of the living areas.

The program distributes the social areas on the ground floor and concentrates the private spaces on the upper floor. Circulation between these levels is marked by the steel staircase, whose light structure contrasts with the presence of the brick and concrete.

Nature participates in the architecture at different scales. In the courtyard, vegetation occupies the center of the house and establishes visual connections between the spaces. On the façade, concrete planters incorporate greenery into the building itself, filtering light, sound and views while increasing the residents’ privacy.

The material palette creates an atmosphere of permanence and warmth. Brick, present on both the interior and exterior walls, establishes continuity between the different spaces, while timber introduces warmth to the ceilings and circulation elements.

Freijó House is, therefore, an architecture built around a garden. A house that finds in the combination of material, structure and nature a way to create light, ventilation, privacy and different ways of living.
